Although Koka Noodles are on the popular list, there are hundreads more instant noodle brands out there who also ship and sell worldwide.
Instant noodles are a huge market as they are a quick, convinient and tasty meal which can usually be eaten on the go or out and about.

POT NOODLES are equally as popular in Ireland, the differences between pot noodles and koka noodles are as follows;

- pot noodles have wider thicker noodles, whilst koka noodles are thin and rounded.
.


- koka noodles are packaged in three convinient ways (packets, pots, bowls) however pot noodles are only produced in the pot, hence their brand name.
.


- koka noodles can be made in various different ways to suit being on the go or sitting at home, pot noodles can only be made one way which is by adding boiling water.
.


- With certain seafood or stir fry koka noodle flavours you will recieve and extra sachet of saucy goodness which will add to the flavour, pot noodles do not supply a similarity of this extra saucy sachet.

- pot noodles do advertise a lot more than koka noodles, they use the likes of telivision adverts and posters on busses etc all over Ireland. Koka noodlee however do not advertise in Ireland, (probably because their company is in Singapore and they focus on larger countries)

Koka Noodle Flavours

There are dozens of koka noodle flavours. The flavour sachets are a massive part of the experience, because otherwise, all the noodles would be tasteless together.
The powder flavouring is packaged in a small sachet which is then inserted in the koka noodle product (packet, cup, bowl)

Beneath is a list of the most common flavours of koka noodles;

As you can see there is a great variety of flavours, ranging from the classic chicken and curry towards the more rare lobster and prawn.

I would like to think of myself as a koka noodles expert but unfortunatly i have yet to try all of flavours Tat Hui has to offer, this is due to the lack of importation of rare foods into Ireland. I have only ever seen the common flavours sold here meaning i have not yet had the full koka noodle experience however I strongly believe that all the above flavours are just as mouthwatering good as my favourite curry koka noodles.

The flavour sachets contain a high amount of sodium which isn't necessarily very good for you every day but I would not recommend eating koka noodles from a health point of view every day at all.

Ways to eat koka noodles...

There are many different ways to eat koka noodles, different people prefer different ways.

As you can see one way is demonstrated in the above video using packet noodles where the steps are as following;

• place contents in a bowl
• add flavour sachet
• add boiling water, and wait for them cook.

another way to eat packet koka noodles is to..

• add the contents to a saucepan
• add 400mls of boiling water
• put it on a low heat for 3 minutes 
• add the flavour sachet once cooked and mix 
• pour into a bowl and enjoy

There are however other versions of koka noodles, for example the pot version. The pot noodles are slightly thinner and come with a sachet of tasty powder made vegetables (I personally throw away the vegetable sachets as I find the flavour cannot be improved)

To eat koka pot noodles you must..

• empty contents of the flavour sachet and vegetable sachet into the pot
• add boiling water up to the measurement line
• put the lid back onto the pot to keep them warm and allow to cook for 5mins
• once the noodles have risen to the top of the pot take your fold up complimentary fork and enjoy!

Bowl koka noodles are the last version, These are extremely convenient if you do not have a dishwasher as you can throw away the disposable bowl once finished with.

To eat these the quidelines are as follows;

• pour in flavour and vegetable sachets
• add boilng water to the second rim of the bowl
• wait for the noodles to cook
• take your complimentary spork (spoon and fork ) and enjoy!

How are instant noodles produced?

Instant noodles are usually made from 6 main ingredients...

1. starch
2. flour (a mix of wheat flour and/or bucketwheat)
3. salt
4. potassium carbonate
5. water
6. phosphoric acid

The ingredients do vary depending on what part of the world the noodles are being made.
The following steps will explain to you how these instant noodles are then formed:

• All the ingredients are dissolved and kneaded into a dough. This dough is then left to mature for a certain period of time.
• The dough is then made into two sheets and rolled through two rotating rollers several times in order to flatten it out and develop gluten more easily.
• The dough is then cut off once it has reached the desired thickness and shape. The noodles are then ready to be steamed for 1-5 minutes at 100 degrees celsius in order to geletinize the texture of the noodles.
• After this the noodles are dried. Noodles can be dried in two ways, hot air drying or frying.
 -Frying: The noodles are fried in oil (usually canola oil) at 140-160 degrees celsius for 1-2 minutes.

-Air Drying: The noodles are air dried for approx 30-40 minutes at a degrees of 70-90.

One pro about frying noodles is that it takes a shorter amount of time... however the con of this is that it has a shorter shelf life.

• The noodles are finally cooled, checked and packaged along with the flavour sachets.

Tat Hui Foods company was founded in Singapore in 1986. The founder of Tat Hui Foods set out with the intention of bringing this brand worldwide. This journey began for Tut Hui Foods company in 1987 when the founder Mr Lim Hi Lay first introduced his products to the Chinese grocery market in US, Europe and Australia.
